HVAC, LED and lighting innovations have helped propel businesses toward unprecedented efficiency savings.
According Forester Media’s white paper, “Efficiency on Multiple Levels,” the biggest change in energy efficiency is in capturing the energy savings from behavioral, optimized and attenuated devices. Here’s a breakdown of the drivers behind the innovation change within the industry:
Stem, Inc., an energy storage optimization company, was chosen by Kilroy Realty Corporation (KRC) to deploy over 7.5 MWh of artificial intelligence (AI)-driven energy storage at eight commercial buildings in KRC’s California portfolio. The selection was facilitated by Black Bear Energy Inc., who acted as the owner’s representative for Kilroy Realty.
Woodland Regional High School in Beacon Falls, Connecticut, is a perfect example. Electricity costs at the school, which is roughly 170,000 square feet, jumped from $250,595 in the 2015-16 school year to $300,172 the following year, a nearly 20% increase, according to an energy audit conducted by Sarracco Mechanical Services. Electricity usage increased roughly 26% over the time, the district paid less per kilowatt hour in 2016-17.
